Black widow and all the other widow strains are taking the world of weed by storm. These potent ladies pack a punch, and they’re not afraid to show it. Rumor has it that the strain is a cross between a South Indian indicia and a Brazilian sativa landrace. This strain is believed to have been created by Shantibaba (a.k.a Scott Blackey). In 1994, Shantibaba and Arjan Roskam (founder of Green House Seed Company) created the White Widow strain. However, in 1998, when Shantibaba left the Greenhouse Seed Company, he could no longer use the name White Widow for his creation. So, he re-released the strain as Black Widow under his new company, Mr. Nice Seeds. And as no surprise, Roskam disputes Shantibaba’s version.

However, one thing’s for sure, this strain is just as popular as its other counterparts. With a composition of 65%-35% sativa-Indica genetics, this sativa-dominant strain boasts an average THC level of 26%.

Aroma

Black Widow has a classic sativa scent. Its aroma is skunky with a touch of fruity notes. The buds on this weed are extremely fragrant. So, be very careful where you smoke her – unless you want the whole neighborhood to know what you’re up to.

Flavor

Black Widow has a similar flavor to its aroma. On the inhale, you’ll be greeted by a skunky taste that’s a little fruity. There comes a nuttiness on the exhale. All in all, it’s a pretty smooth and well-balanced smoke.

Ever seen the White Widow strain? Well, Black Widow looks similar but with a way darker shade. Perhaps it’s one of the main reasons why she earned her name. The buds are dense, compact, and sticky. They execute deep purple and dark green shades, covered in orange pistils and trichomes.
